"Two Fingers in the Air"

As I grow older, I have come to realize that it is the experiences in our lives that makes it worth living. I am sure that there are still many times left in my life that I will say, "I have got to have that" or "I have got to do that." I can say, however, that this year, I wanted nothing more than a State Championship for Jared and his boys. His baby, FOOTBALL, is something you just don't mess with. You don't change his routine and you certainly don't change his rituals. There may be a certain pair of boxers that are only worn on Fridays, or a certain way you hang his "coaching vest" in his closet; perhaps even the way he lays out his clothes on Thursday nights for Friday's game. None of these, do you mess with. Lucky for him, he met me! A woman who understands the importance of football in a household, and even in a marriage. All of those rituals, well, I'm right there with him. I can tell you that there is NOWHERE I would rather be on Friday nights, than under those lights, watching him and feeling so proud. This year's team has been one of my favorites to watch throughout his time at Byrnes. They were a team of great pride, enthusiasm, discipline and hard work. J said at the beginning of the season, that, "they would all be disappointed if they weren't playing in the last game of the season." Our last game just ended one week too early. It was an amazing season and it brings tears to my eyes knowing that there will be no more games under those lights this year. There was no certain way I hung "the vest" in his closet this week, no rushing to work for me to get to the sports page and read the stats and predictions for the games, and no "Thursday night lay out." It will take a few weeks for me to get used to our new "routine," but I am so proud of you, J, and all that you have already accomplished this year. Byrnes is an amazing school, with amazing kids, and even more importantly, it's filled with amazing families that support them. Friday nights will always be "Good, Good, Nights" and once you're a Trojan, you're always a Trojan!
