Our Home

So, yesterday was yard day at the Amell Home. It's always a fun when I announce to Jared that "today is yard day!!!" It's like the game of paper, rock, scissors, who gets front yard and who gets back! Of course there are stipulations, if you take the front yard, it's less grass but you have to weed eat; if you get back yard, it's just cutting but there's more of it!!! Our home is small, but it's just enough for our little family of, well, dogs! Bruin and Maddox have the two rooms they are allowed in, which, by the way are for the most part, indestructible! However, some days I come home and discover they have been cooking, as they have pulled a few pots and pans out from the cabinets! Nothing a good mother of dogs can't fix! We are still making some changes to our lovely home and am glad to say that we finally got our driveway done! Just last year, we painted the ENTIRE house, upstairs and all and that was quite the undertaking! We put down new carpet upstairs, luckily the downstairs is mostly hardwood, we redid the kitchen cabinets, put in new hardware, new light fixtures, wooden blinds and tiled the kitchen countertops. When we started in our yard, it was nothing but dirt, but as you can see, we have done much work to get it where it is today! I made my man become a yard boy before it was all over! You may ask why we did this before we were even engaged, but I knew the day would come, just not so soon! I am happy to say that all of the remodeling was done before I moved in, thank goodness!!!

Family Beach Vacation!

So, other than my wedding, I look forward to this week more than any out of the whole year! We have been going to the beach, ALL of us, since I was born! When I say all, I mean, my grandparents, my mom and dad, my sisters, me, Jared, my 4 aunts and uncles and 4 cousins, including their "significant other!!!" So it's pretty much at least 20 of us in one house, on top of each other for a whole week! But, I wouldn't have it any other way!!! We stay in Garden City, almost as far as you can go to the point, we don't like getting caught up in the "pier and arcade mess" if you will! Our days consist of laying on the beach from about 9:30 until 5 or 6, then we cook a nice BIG meal, usually grilled hamburgers, steak, or grilled and fried fish, and then a nice sunset boatride through the inlet. We don't get out much, usually the grocery store is as far as we go, with the occasional putt-putt night. This year, Gettys and I were the breakfast chef's, as we were up by about 8 every morning filling the house with the great aroma of bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, fresh fruit and muffins! Oh how we ate!! On our last morning, Friday, we take the annual trip down to Nibbles for their lovely breakfast, then back on the beach until we close it down late that afternoon! It's funny how life takes it's turns, as last year the girls, (me, momma, nanmomma, tanzy and vicki), were sitting on the beach talking about how we may be "planning" a wedding this time next summer (meaning this summer). Little did we know that Jared and I would be MARRIED before then!!! Needless to say, I love my life and I wouldn't change a thing!!!

Our Wedding Day

Well, today is my first day as a blogger, and let's just say, I'm addicted! For starters, I wanted to share some pictures of my Wedding Day, the happiest day of my life! It was absolutely the wedding of my dreams and I would not change a single thing! My family made it all possible, along with the help of their friends who slaved the entire week of the wedding, making sure everything was just right to suit, who else, but the BRIDE! I actually think I surprised everyone at how calm I remained throughout the whole process, because, after all, it did all happen in 4 months!! I was engaged on February 12, 2008 and married on May 31st, 2008, yes, just 4 months. The girl who always thought it would take 2 years to plan her wedding did it in 4 months. Perhaps this is because I have actually been planning my wedding since I was, hmmm, 16? Yes, I had "wedding files" full of pictures of wedding ceremonies and reception ideas, from my dress, the cake, the tables, food, lighting, favors, flowers and anything in between! Those who know, say, "no, I'm not surprised at all!" From the beginning of the parties to the end of the reception, I believe there was well over 2,000 pictures! I am married to the most wonderful man in the world, you'll see!! Enjoy!
